Manager Analysis Services, LLC [MAS], founded in 2003, advises institutional clients on all aspects of their investment processes.  Our team consists exclusively of senior portfolio management and due diligence analysts, who have worked in senior positions at alternative asset firms, hedge funds, investment banks, and on nonprofit foundation Boards.  We facilitate implementation of each clients' fiduciary duties in our role as independent subject matter experts.  Our interests are 100% aligned with our clients.  We never compete with the firms we evaluate and we receive compensation only from our OCIO Search and Due Diligence clients.

Our clients drive our focus, and we have two primary businesses:

OCIO Search and Evaluation

We are seeing increased strong interest in this service after some particularly disastrous OCIO performances in 2022. We assess the quality and effectiveness of your investment consultants and OCIOs.  In this important role, our expertise conducting due diligence on the same underlying investment strategies that your investment consultants and OCIOs engage in, giving us a distinct advantage over other "OCIO search consultants." We can assess how well your OCIO/investment consultant builds your portfolios from the ground up since we evaluate investor funds from the ground up.

We offer you two ways to assess your OCIO/investment consultant.  The most common route is to conduct a formal search, usually including your incumbent, to compare the service offerings and performance of competing OCIO firms.  Since our reach into the OCIO industry covers over 50 of the best OCIO providers, we design our searches to focus on the best potential matches for your organization.  The second route is a monitoring/"wellness check" on your OCIO/investment consultant, where we evaluate in detail the performance of your OCIO/investment consultant.  This latter route is computationally intensive but avoids the time commitments required of your Board Directors to conduct finalist presentations, if your OCIO/investment consultant's performance proves satisfactory.

Our principals also serve as board directors/investment committees for nonprofit institutions as well as former CEO's.  We can assist you in integrating your governance process considerations with your OCIO search or monitoring activities from an inside persepctive.

 Investment Manager Due Diligence

Alternative Investment Manager Due Diligence, selection, and monitoring are the roots of our business. Recent trends in this market include experienced staff outsourcing components of their due diligence efforts to us, particularly for areas like operational due diligence or areas outside of their investment team's core expertise.  We advise on investing in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate partnerships, institutional agriculture, emerging markets, and traditional equity and fixed income strategies.  We help our clients improve their portfolio performance.  Our interests are always 100% aligned with you the investor, and we do not receive compensation from the managers we evaluate.

Other Services we offer include those to:

Family Offices, assisting in managing tax-sensitive investment strategies, advise on estate and trust planning strategies, and assist in managing legal, accounting, and other key service providers.  We also advise family members in many aspects of their financial well-being.

Pension Plans requesting pension portfolio assessments, which is an area where we have become involved at the request of clients.  We assess all aspects of the portfolio construction, hedging, stress scenarios, and consistency of funding levels.  We help assess that Trustees are ensuring their fiduciary duties.

Assessments for ESG and DEI strategy investors.  Our team includes a leading senior analyst in this field and, unlike most experts in this area, we are not biased by the requirement to market an in-house asset management product.  You can benefit from independent, expert advise from us, without the cacophony of varying opinions and methodologies being pitched in the marketplace.
